Trend: In 2022, the MBA program landscape drastically shifted. For the first time ever, the number of graduate students enrolled in online MBA programs outnumbered those in full-time.
In turn, this aligns with the global trend of digitalizing educational content through "tik-toking" and virtualization.
Investors' Bets: French startup Augment ($6M) noticed the EdTech boom. Augment’s education program is positioned as a solid alternative to traditional MBAs. Established in 2022, it has offered services to over 500 students. The main evident feature is star tutors like a Wikipedia's founder. And a fee of $1750 contrasts starkly with traditional full-time programs that might exceed $100K in the US.
In many ways, Augment resembles MasterClass. The difference is a focus on business topics and structured programs.
To-Do: In this business, the name, or brand is the king, while content is secondary (but is important too). So if you have access to an audience or a brand, and can run a show, you should quickly launch your “alternative MBA” course online.
