1. “You are what you eat” is not all about your diet. Think from a hiring viewpoint. In a nutshell, a good company eats what it hires.
2. It is like this as a company mirrors the team and not the head. Yes, what you do matters for sure, but it’s mostly the teamwork that makes or breaks a company.
3. Bare it in mind whenever you have the urge of settling for hiring and say "well, good enough."
4. On a positive note: you can balance your weaknesses by hiring the right talent and diversifying the strengths within the team.
5. A twist: hiring people similar to yourself may imply you lack the desire for self-improvement or worst still that you are unable to recognize your weakness. You should be passionate about the diversification of skills in your team. None of us are perfect.
6. And as you noticed, diversity doesn't mean merely hiring people around the globe but hiring the talent with the right skills. Of course, sometimes you have to explore different cultures for that. All cultures are unique for something or another and have the potential to enrich any business.
